Forester’s House is on a private country estate, Ditchley Park, in Oxfordshire. The estate is five miles north of Woodstock and east of the village of Charlbury. It is located a mile west of the A44. Use these directions...
if you use Google Maps or in-car GPS you will almost certainly go THE WRONG WAY unless you type in Kiddington Drive, Chipping Norton on Google Maps.
(DO NOT USE THE POSTCODE FOR DIRECTIONS, THEY WILL PROBABLY TAKE YOU TO THE WRONG GATE).
The phone number is 01608 678909.
Save that number now as mobile reception locally is terrible and you won’t be able to call us for help if (when) you get lost and your device will probably not let you reload this page...
Enter the long drive and you reach a pair of very grand gates after quarter of a mile. If they are closed, then by the lodge house you will see a metal panel (lit at night) with buzzers for the houses on the estate.
Buzz Forester's House and the phone will ring in the house. We cannot open the gate unless you use the buzzer. Phoning us on your mobile phone won't work.
Continue through the gate and follow the drive until you reach a sign where the drive divides.
Take care as there may be livestock on the road.
Keep to the right towards the cottages and houses. After a few hundred yards you will reach a cattle grid directly in front of you (ignore the other three turnings, use the closest cattle grid to you). Drive over it and down the hill, past the old stables and garages with green doors on your right.
As you turn to the right, you will shortly see a pair of very ornate black garden gates on the right.
The next pair of plain black wooden gates is the entrance to Forester's House.
